| Summary | 0000877: Edgewater Edgemarc 4200 and 4300T, no source | ||||||||
| Description |
Both of these devices, as seen here(http://www.edgewaternetworks.com/edgemarc_overview_page.htm), [^] run a uClinux kernel and include BusyBox 0.60.5. No source is included on the packaged CD or available on the Edgewater web site, nor is there even a mention of the GPL. |
||||||||
| Additional Information |
Known GPL software on a 4300T with firmware from early March: Linux 2.4.24-uc0 BusyBox 0.60.5 GNU bash 2.0.5 Asterisk CVS I notified the vendor as soon as I discovered the lack of source on their web site (a few hours ago), and at this point have only recieved an automated reply in return. Will update when I recieve something from a real human. |

I have recieved a reply from the vendor which pointed me to a somewhat hidden link within the device's web GUI, and just as they said, the GPL was contained in its entirety. They did, however, admit that they had not been publishing source, and with regards to both the GPL page in the GUI and the user guide, they had this to say: "We will schedule an update to these components that include a statement on how to obtain the source code." As of yet there has not been any action beyond their email response, but having dealt directly with quite a few Edgewater employees through my job I believe they will be true to their word and solve this problem rapidly. |
