Summary |
0000488: init does not reap zombies when running actions |
Description |
Given a shutdown action
::shutdown:/etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown
which runs standard SysV scripts to terminate processes init fails to reap orphaned processes. This causes the shutdown to take far longer than it should do or even stall completely. |
Additional Information |
Attached is a patch that fixes this problem in an extremely inellegant way. This bug is a variant of 379, this patch does not try and address that bug. A proper solution should probably fix both. |
